That in addition with one sister’s greatest offending insult- that she’s an old maid- makes me wonder who in God’s name wrote this book? Someone who’s 102? No one talks like that, and wow- being an unmarried woman is *offensive*? No, thanks. The woman who was having an affair with the husband is called, at various times, a skank, skanky, a tart, a tramp, and my favorite- a floozy. I can’t tell you how many times a character “cocked their head” to listen. It’s not because of the plot but due to the horribly unimaginative, redundant, and trite writing.
